Ever wonder where Ebbets Field went to?  Well, despite the rumor embodied in its Wikipedia entry, we found it just down the street from us in Dakar.

. . . and here is its final resting place in Dakar!

Remember a few posts ago, when I mentioned that we were recruited for the embassy “social” (meaning beer) league softball team by a fellow Vermonter our first day in Dakar?  Well, several practices, games, and a hot dog later (no beer yet), we’re regulars.  Brian hit a grand slam home run in our first game of the season!  While I’d rather be cradling a lacrosse stick, I’m managing to hit the ball out of the infield most times at bat and cheer loudly from way out in right field.  Play ball!

11/14 UPDATE:  The Sand Sharks are chugging along, with an impressive record of mostly wins, a tie, and one really good thumping by a young and fit team.  Between my weekday evening teaching schedule and a periodically swollen left knee, I’ve missed the last couple of practices and even today’s game.   But Brian remains a stalwart and has been occasionally called “coach” by fans and players alike.  AND we have some very cool t-shirts.  Eh, we’re not a gang, we’re a club!
